The colors you pick for your home should be based on more than just personal preference. Color, after all, can enhance the atmosphere in your home on top of improving your mood and well-being. Between light colors and neutral tones, it can be difficult to decide which ones are best for your home.
Serpaco Painting, your residential painting contractor, shares how the right colors enhance your home’s atmosphere and which tones you should pick for your interior and exterior spaces.
Warm interior colors have been a staple for many homes since time immemorial. These tones and shades not only serve as a good base color for living rooms and bedrooms, they are also great at establishing a comfortable and cozier mood.
Some good examples of warm colors include creamy white, mustard yellow, and gray tones. While the latter is technically a more neutral tone, it’s still a warmer color when you compare it to blue or plain white thanks to its more muted appearance.
Keep in mind that while warm colors are more commonly used for the interior, they are excellent choices for exterior home painting as well. Warm siding colors, for example, contrast very well with a darker colored roof or foundation.
When Are Dark Tones Good?
Darker interior and exterior colors are a rarity, and this is due to their unfortunate side effect of absorbing more radiant heat. Darker tones are often used to contrast with warm or neutral colors or as highlights to flesh out details in the interior or exterior.
